Yes, I know this is an old version but even after asking my Team Leader more than a few times to send me the latest one I still didn't get it... I will find someone to share the latest Guidelines with me and then make this page more current...

Following are the set of guidelines currently available for the
operation of gatekeepers.
This document is divided into two parts, the first section
applies to all, the second part is additional guidelines for
team leaders, or overrides where applicable.
Part One
Authority
Moria answers to COF.
Team leaders answer to Moria.
Gatekeepers answer to Team Leaders.
Gatekeepers are completely separate from the peacekeepers, they
are not subservient to, or above the peacekeepers. They are a
totally separate group and have no direct link with the
peacekeepers in any way. They are not employees of COF, they
are volunteers acting out of their own wish and desire to assist
in the community.
In case of problems, it is expected that a gatekeeper can
approach any team leader, or Moria for assistance, but
hopefully, as a team we can work out any problems before they
happen :)
Role
We are there to answer questions, help, listen and make
ActiveWorlds a welcoming and fun place for those who wish to
enjoy the environment provided. We are NOT there to do any of
the following:
1) investigate vandalism
2) promote worlds or projects
3) answer on behalf of COF
4) defend COF
5) take sides in any argument
It is also expected that at all time while on duty, Gatekeepers
will try to maintain under all adversity a professional image,
and keep smiling from the wrists down when typing responses no
matter how frustrating the situation may be :)
Eject
Developments have made it obvious that Gatekeepers do require to
have the ability to use eject. The preferred route for use of
this is to see if firstly any team leader or peacekeeper is on
line and call in to deal with the situation. If none are online,
or the gatekeeper feels the situation is warranted, then they
have the ability to eject, but it is required that they notify
their teamleader of who and when, with a supporting log, so that
persistent trouble makers can be identified, and also, in the
case of complaint, logs are available to refer to. We would
prefer that initial ejects are for short periods, growing longer
should the offender return and it still be deemed necessary.
It is as important, for the service, that Gatekeepers do not
abandon the right to eject, due to their personal preferences,
and consider both the people around them, and the service in
making their judgments in these cases. It can be as damaging to
not eject when required, as to eject when not warranted, which
is why all Gatekeepers will go through a training and
role-playing session to determine what situations may and may
not warrant the use of this facility.
Area of Operation
The Area of operation for the gatekeepers is in the world
AWGate.
Use of Name & Password
To start with, it will be permissible to use either the
gatekeeper account set up when on duty, or to use your own name
and acquire the rights of the gatekeeper account. Both methods
have been expressed as preferable to different people, and are
happy to experiment at the start. It will however be a
requirement that any password associated with the gatekeeper
account be kept strictly confidential. It is a requirement
however, that if using your own name on duty, you identify
yourself at all times as a gatekeeper in your text.
Privileged Information
It is hoped, that information regarding gatekeepers will not get
to a level necessary to ask for information to be kept
confidential, it is after all an open group dedicated to
helping. However, if notices are posted with markings
requesting the info be kept within the group, it is expected
that it remain so. Sometimes preliminary or early release of
information will be made to the gatekeepers to aid in help
situations, and as such may be marked for internal use only.
The Gatekeepers Themselves
It will not be the policy of COF to reveal the names of those
people that are gatekeepers, so if you wish to use the
gatekeeper account and remain anonymous then that will be your
right. Please remember that not all gatekeepers may wish to be
known as such and preserve that right for them by neither
confirming or denying whom your fellow gatekeepers are
Length of Service
Gatekeepers have no requirement to continue being gatekeepers,
but we do ask that if you decide to stop, you inform either your
team leader or me, Moria. We do ask however that while with us
you make every attempt to maintain your scheduled time on duty,
or you arrange a swap with a colleague. Should a number of
consecutive duties be missed without knowing about it, we
reserve the right to stop that person being a gatekeeper. In
addition, we are going to start the program whereby everyone who
joins as a gatekeeper serves a 3 month trial period to ensure
they are happy with the role, and that there are no concerns on
either side.
Gatekeeper World
Only Gatekeepers may have access to this world. It is not
permissible to bring friends, relatives etc. into this world.
It will be for the sole use of gatekeepers to exchange
information, talk to each other and post signs and messages for
and to each other. It will also be the sole world for training
and meetings regarding the gatekeeper program, so that all
people know when meetings and training are occurring so that any
Gatekeeper or member of COF can attend should that be required.
Junior Gatekeepers
We will be introducing to the gatekeepers, some more junior
members (under 18). For various reasons, these gatekeepers will
only be allowed to go on duty in the gate, when accompanied by
an over 18 gatekeeper. They will not be allowed to use the
eject facility, as it would not be fair to make these people
accountable for actions that may require arbitration in the case
of complaint. However, the enthusiasm shown by some of the
younger members of our community should be harnessed and allowed
to grow within the community.
Part Two
In addition, or as exception to the above for team leaders.
Email Addresses
It is important that each team leader keeps a list of the email
addresses of their team members, so that changes to the
gatekeeper password and other information can be circulated as
quickly as possible.

OK, this is a minimum number of guidelines, as we want to try
and ensure that this is fun to do and not rule bound. Thank
you for co-operating with the above, and if you have any
questions, you know where to find any of us.
Graham / Moria
